Going to Morocco... I Had a good trip over. Got my tickets through American Airlines and flew AA to Miami. From there it was Iberia to Madrid, Spain then another Iberia flight to Casablanca. As I watched the sunrise over the Atlantic just off Portugal, I noted it was 12:15 AM back in Slidell... I nearly hurt myself seriously on the Atlantic portion of the flight... I opened the overhead storage to get something from my carry-on. I inadvertently left the overhead door open and my bag about 1/3 of the way out... Thankfully, another passenger noticed it after awhile and pointed at it and I jumped up to get it fixed! Thankfully no turbulence to drop my bag out onto my head :-) |

Getting from Casablanca to Rabat
Morocco has great public transport! After arriving at Mohammed V airport in Casablanca, I got a ticket to Rabat Morocco via a brief stop at the train station in Casablanca, changed trains and on to Rabat. Fast, easy, inexpensive.

Casablanca Casa Voyageurs station with train arriving I will take to Rabat
On the left is a picture of 1st Class accommodations on the train from the airport. Four seats - 2 facing 2 - with a foldout table between. The train from Casablanca has cabins in 1st class. The cabin was already filled when I got to it - so I didn't get pictures. There are 6 individual seats - 3 facing 3 - with a table between. I've planned train travel between the cities I'm visiting here and it seems as though it will be great. I've already gotten my ticket from Rabat to Marrakech so I will have a definite reservation and won't have to stand in line for a ticket. |

My Hotel Accommodation in Rabat Morocco
I have a beautiful terrace that I'm really enjoying! Great cool breeze in the afternoon and evening. A mesh canopy above keeps it shaded from most direct sun. Since there is a no-smoking policy in the hotel, this allows me to step outside in the fresh air for a cigarette. |
||
The living room is nicely appointed and a door opens out onto my terrace. The kitchenette is very complete and includes cookware, nice dishes, glasses, flatware, etc. The fridge is about twice the size of a regular hotel mini-fridge and has separate freezer - gets drinks really cold really fast. The bedroom isn't huge (none of the rooms are) but plenty big enough and very comfortable. The bath is small, too, but very up to date. With all tile floors, everything is very clean. The bath towels at this hotel are about the size we consider hand towels at hotels at home. And they don't seem to know what washcloths are - at least at this hotel. From what I've determines so far, anytime you use the bathroom you don't need to expect toilet tissue... it might be there if you're lucky - public toilets, not the hotels. |
