Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico This seems to be one of the few places in Mexico where it is still safe to travel. As I write this, I hear on American news channels of the storm sweeping across the country and there must be havoc in the airline travel industry, as well. I guess I got a lucky day to fly. I flew on the 10th and had a 1 hour delay in Gulfport (GPT - my starting point) due to weather in Atlanta (ATL). After that everything was just fine. My really 1st day of this trip was spent traveling - with a lot of layover time. The Mexico City airport almost killed me... I ended up back-and-forth and end-to-end a couple times. Just too much for this old dude! So, my 1st real vacation day was mostly spent recuperation from my "Jet Lag". But I did get a few neighborhood pictures and some of my hotel.
Beautiful Historic Neighborhood The Wyndham Merida is located in a neighborhood of grand historic mansions. Happily many are restored to great condition.


	Sadly there are still homes that haven't found anyone to love them with sufficient means to do so.
Wyndham Merida This lovely hotel is where I'm staying. It's difficult to tell what is 'old' and what is new - but its beginnings were with one of the grand old mansions on this street. It is certainly completely modern now. I got a 'Junior Suite'

	The front desk and reception area is somewhat small, but beautiful. The restaurant is lovely and also offers a glassed in 'outdoor' dining room.

	The coffee shop also serves in the adjoining courtyard and in the smoking area.

Above is a garden area that sits by the designated smoking area - as seen from my bedroom. The center picture (different vantage point) shows the doors to my living area; the bedroom also has doors looking into the garden.
	The courtyard also has a beautiful pool. My suite adjoins the courtyard.


	The Living Area is spacious and comfortable with a desk in the corner. The 'Guest Bathroom' just off the living area The kitchen look into the Living Area
