Bowling Pin Lighter

While this lighter looks like the KEM, it isn't! The KEM is not as well made as this one. See the Another View photos and you'll quickly note the differences.

'Cigarette' Lighter

Designed to look like a cigarette and fit into a regular size cigarette pack so it would be handy. Could also be used in a King size pack, but was somewhat short for that.

Fire Extinguisher Lighters

Shown here is are a pair of machine age art deco miniature fire extinguishers. They were given to fireman to honor their WW2 service. They date late 1940s and were possibly machine shop made on Long Island. Each features a screw off top to fuel and flint with a pull off base revealing the well made wick flint wheel mechanism. -Larry Tolkin

Italian Swiss Colony Golden State Bottle Striker Lighter

possibly by Schiller c. 1915. This lighter is a very close match for a Ronson Wonderliter. The difference is that this one has a wand with the flint embedded in the wand and the bottle has a plate to scratch the flint against to produce a spark. The Ronson version has a flint strip on the bottle with metal on the wand to produce the spark. Size, shape, and bottle label are identical.

Jerry Can Lighter

Several different Jerry Can lighters have been made. This is an unbranded example, from Japan in the mid-late 1950s. These were also made in black (denoting a water can)

Novelty Playing Cards Piezoelectric Lighter

Using the thumb, the cards are "slid" to the side - much as you would do with a hand of cards. This causes the piezoelectric spark and release of gas to get a fire.

Solar Lighter

Had a spate of popularity from several companies from the mid 1970s - mid 1980s. Very slight variations are still being sold.

On a sunny day these light a cigarette almost as quickly as a flame - especially if there is a little wind - which helps the Solar Lighter. See the picture 'Light Up' below.
