This is made in Japan and very similar to the ones made in 'Occupied Japan' so this one was probably made just after 1952 when the Occupied Japan terminology went away. It uses the identical tripod to the KKW Camera made in Occupied Japan and the box is also nearly identical.

Edison Stock Market Ticker Tape Table Lighter
The above is the proper name of this lighters as per the original labels on them. Model of the Edison stock ticker. The lighter is covered by a glass dome. All of the gears and springs are purely decorative and do not function or move in any way. A push button on one side opens the lighter, causing it to strike as it opens to produce the flame. Releasing the button closes the lighter. Properly gripping the lighter for opening requires having the fingers where the ticker tape is (explaining why may of these no longer have the tape!) and pushing the button with the thumb.
