Ibelo M23 Butane Lighter
Really identical to the Colibri M23 lighter. Not so surprising since Colibri and Ibelo/Jbelo are the same principals - first in Germany then in England. c. 1960s

Ideal Platinum Igniter
This is an early catalytic lighter, though the approximate date has not been determined. It is known to be early because the instruction sheet specifically mentions using the lighter to ignite gas lights!

Imco IFA Slide Sleeve Lighter
IFA mid-1920s - late 1930s. 1936. Because of the script on this lighter series the "IFA" is interpreted by many to be "TFA" or "YFA" ; not so - it is short for "Imco Feuerzeuge Austria" with 'Feuerzeuge' meaning 'Lighters' - the "I" could also be a "J" for "Jmco", though no sources I could find mention that, including the very brief historic info on the Imco website.

Imco Foxhole & Blackout Lighter
These were made mostly in the early through mid 1940s. This is a tinder cord type lighter and virtually impossible to blow oout once lit; in fact, the windier it is, the better the "glow" stays! For some unexplained reason, the lighter box for this lighter claims a US Patent of 407068 - which is absolutely incorrect! US407068 is from 1889 and USD407068 is from 1999 and for completely unrelated products.

Instanta Twin Case & Lighter
c. mid-1930s. This case has an unusual way of presenting the cigarettes. When opened the case only opens partially where the cigarettes are available at the tip. When one is withdrawn a little more push causes the lighter to open and strike, producing a flame. When the lever is released the lighter closes as does the case. A bit cumbersome to operate, really.

Janus Catalytic Lighter
While appearing very much the same as the Jiffy-Lite, Master-Lite, and New Method lighters, this lighter has the element riveted into the cap; the other brands had an element that was easily removed and could, therefore, be easily replaced. The lighters are marked DRP and DRGM, which simply means they are registered and patented in Germany. c. 1920s

Sharpo Aluminum Block Lighter
The 'Automatic' version of this lighter is very unusual. First, not too many aluminum block lighters were automatic. Even more interesting is the mechanism for opening the top: when the side roller is pushed, as though to strike the flint, it moves back just enough to release a catch allowing the top to spring open; in the same motion one can turn the wheel, generating the spark that lights the lighter. This is especially handy because no lighter always lights. Most semi-automatics (as this really is) will then require closing the lighter to try again. With this method, one just turns the spark wheel again - no need to close the top.
