Crescent-Lite Firelighter
c. 1948 This very large lighter (11.5" closed - 15 ounces) was designed for lighting fireplaces, stoves, furnaces, camp fires - or a whoole group's cigarettes at once! There are 4 large wicks at the end. The lighter is designed for extra large flints - though it can be made functional with currently available standard lighter flints. The flint is struck by pulling the lighter out lengthwise after removing the screw-on cap covering the wicks. The flint is striuck against a grater to produce the spark.

Crown Gold View Butane Lighter
Transparent butane tank. This lighter is refillable from a valve on the bottom and the flints are replaced by removing the flint tube from the top - a tricky operation.

Crown Electra Butane Lighter
This is a butane lighter with a battery operated spark that seems to be from the early to mid 1960s; if it were into the 1970s it would be using piezoelectric instead of a battery. A small, rectangular 12 volt battery is used (National Hi-Top VS08 made by Matsushita) to generate spark. Beautiful lighter, but the batteries are no longer available.
