GVM-0AF Cobalt Blue Ashtray? - Interesting piece that seems an ashtray from the perspective shown... but, other side up seems more like a saucer! The side shown above seems SLIGHTLY better finished than the other side. The square piece is 5" across - have not been able to identify pattern... see other pictures.

IXL-0A0 1952 Cigarette Chaperone with Ashatray by Trays, Inc. & distributed by George B. Renzi Co., Norwalk, CT.
The 'Chaperone' is the metal holder with uses a bimetal spring. When a cigarette burns down the heat from the burning part will cause the bimetal to expand and, in turn , lift the metal cigarette tray and dump the cigarette into the ashtray - shown in pictures.

Primary producers were: Diecasters, Inc. Ridgefield, NJ and Hamilton Art Metal Corp. New York, NY. Many of Hamilton's ashtrays were designed by Frank Wedemeyer while many of the Diecasters were by R.R. Hutcheson and assigned to Frank Mariani or by Frank Mariani.
